Journey Through The Valley

Because Who You Become Is More Important
Than What You Achieve

About the Book

Journey Through the Valley_3D-2.png

Thanks for your interest in learning more about Journey Through The Valley. When I was younger I thought that the calling of God only applied to pastors or missionaries. It wasn't until I was over a decade into my professional career that I began to invite Jesus into the challenges at work. Ever so slowly I began to experience that Jesus wants to be with us, even as we're in the middle of a spreadsheet.

As I began to catch a glimpse of Jesus's desire to be part of even the smallest aspects of my world, I began recognize just how far off I was from being like Him. For the first time in my life, I began to compare my responses to standard that Jesus desires for us. As the challenges of being a husband, father, and emerging executive piled up, I found that I had accidentally built my standard of success according to the world's standards and not Jesus's standards outlined in Scripture.

I wrote this book not because I have arrived, but because I am on the same journey as you of trying to become more like Jesus. My hope for you as you read this book is that you can see the faithfulness of God to complete the work that He started. Our God is faithful even amid our brokenness and mistakes, because we serve a God who over time turns our weakness into strength.

What You Can Expect In This Book

Reading a book from a new author that you don't know can be disorienting at first. As you view this page, my hope is that you'll get a sense of who I am, what I believe, and why I wrote this book. Enjoy!

Biblically Grounded

When I was younger, I read scripture thinking I needed to memorize facts. As I got older, I began to realize that scripture offers us a glimpse into the heart of our God. He is a God that loves us and is for us. Scripture is our true north showing us the way to life, even when the world screams a different answer. Throughout this book, I use scripture to point back to the timeless truths of our King and their relevance for every day life today.

Raw and Authentic

Over the last 10 years, I used my journals to process some of my deepest pain and struggles with Jesus.  I've included excerpts from my journals throughout the book in an attempt to show the unfiltered struggle we all have with laying our life down and picking up our cross. Our God is not looking for us to come to Him clothed in perfection, but with our raw emotions and open wounds.

Points Back to Jesus

The purpose of this book is to point us all back to Jesus's invitation to exchange our way for His way. It was only when my way led me straight into a wall that I gave Jesus a chance to lead. This is a story about the struggle of letting Jesus lead, even when it hurts and doesn't make sense.
